Body Empowerment Project is excited to announce its second annual year-end fundraising campaign!

We need your help to continue our mission of decreasing eating disorder risk in marginalized youth. In 2022, we have empowered over 300 adolescents across 10 Philadelphia public schools, trained over 50 college volunteers, and provided professional development trainings for over 250 nurses within the School District of Philadelphia. With your support, we can expand our programming to 4 new schools in 2023.

BEP Highlights in 2022:

January — BEP was 1st place recipient of the Greater Philadelphia Social Innovations Award
April — Established partnerships with 2 national eating disorder treatment centers: Within Health and Monte Nido & Affiliates
April — Welcomed a new Operations Director, Clara Pritchett, to our leadership team
May — Expanded our programming to 2 new schools: Paul L. Dunbar School and George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science
June — Collaborated with The Body Positive to draft a new curriculum for Be Body Positive Philly
August — Received $16,000+ at the Philadelphia Philanthropitch Competition

Impact:

Findings from our research study in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia revealed that the Be Body Positive Philly program significantly decreases eating disorder risk and improves body appreciation in our participants!
